The FBI has successfully thwarted a potentially devastating ISIS-linked terror plot targeting a military installation. FBI Director Kash Patel emphasized that their intervention undoubtedly saved American lives and sent a stern warning to those who might collaborate with foreign terrorist organizations. Has mainstream media forgotten ISIS?
Former Guard Member Arrested in Terror Plot
FBI agents have arrested 19-year-old Ammar Abdulmajid-Mohamed Said for allegedly plotting a terrorist attack on behalf of ISIS against the U.S. Army’s Tank-Automotive & Armaments Command (TACOM) at the Detroit Arsenal in Warren, Michigan. Said, a former Michigan Army National Guard member, was charged with attempting to provide material support to a designated foreign terrorist organization and distributing information related to explosives and destructive devices.
The plot was uncovered when Said unknowingly communicated with undercover FBI agents posing as ISIS supporters. He provided armor-piercing ammunition to these agents, believing they would assist him in carrying out a mass shooting at the military facility.

Extensive Planning and Surveillance Activities
Investigation details reveal that Said conducted reconnaissance by flying a drone over the TACOM facility to gather intelligence for the planned attack. He also trained undercover officers on firearms use and instructed them on how to construct Molotov cocktails, demonstrating the seriousness of his intentions.
The suspect was arrested immediately after launching his surveillance drone over the Detroit Arsenal. Each of the charges against Said carries a potential 20-year prison sentence, reflecting the gravity of the alleged terror plot.

FBI Director Commends Quick Action
FBI Director Kash Patel publicly acknowledged the successful operation, praising the Joint Terrorism Task Force’s swift intervention. “Our agents, intelligence teams, and partners acted quickly — and they saved lives,” Patel stated, adding, “Well done to all on executing the mission.”
Patel issued a stern warning to potential terrorists targeting American military personnel or facilities. “Let this be a warning: Anyone who targets our military or conspires with foreign terrorist organizations will be found, stopped, and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law,” he declared, emphasizing the FBI’s commitment to preemptively disrupting terrorist threats.
The case underscores ongoing concerns about ISIS’s continued ability to inspire attacks on American soil despite significant territorial losses overseas. Law enforcement agencies remain vigilant against both foreign-directed and homegrown terrorism threats targeting critical infrastructure and military installations across the United States.
