GILGO BEACH KILLER Caught After Pizza Box DNA Match…

Rex Heuermann will plead guilty to multiple murders in the Gilgo Beach killings case, bringing closure to a 15-year investigation that captivated the nation and left families searching for answers. The Long Island architect faces charges in the deaths of seven women whose remains were discovered along a remote beach highway starting in 2010.

DNA From Pizza Crust CRACKS the Case

Investigators formed a specialized task force in 2022 that revolutionized the cold case investigation. Detectives connected Heuermann to a pickup truck witnessed near one victim’s disappearance by searching vehicle registration databases. The breakthrough came when surveillance teams followed him in Manhattan and recovered a discarded pizza box from a trash can. DNA from the pizza crust matched genetic material found on burlap used to restrain one victim, leading to his July 2023 arrest.

15 Years of Terror ENDS

Police discovered numerous sets of human remains along Ocean Parkway near Gilgo Beach beginning in 2010. The investigation identified six victims—Melissa Barthelemy, Maureen Brainard-Barnes, Amber Lynn Costello, Valerie Mack, Jessica Taylor, and Megan Waterman—found in the scrub along the highway. Sandra Costilla’s remains were located more than 60 miles away in the Hamptons. An eighth victim, Karen Vergata, was found on Fire Island and near Gilgo Beach, though Heuermann has not been charged in her death.

Task Force EXPOSED Disturbing Evidence

The investigation authorized over 300 subpoenas and search warrants after identifying Heuermann as a suspect. Detectives collected billing records for burner phones allegedly used to arrange meetings with victims. His internet search history revealed violent torture pornography viewing and intense interest in the Gilgo Beach killings investigation. Cellphone data placed him in contact with multiple victims just before they disappeared, prosecutors confirmed.

Families Finally Get Answers

Suffolk County District Attorney Ray Tierney scheduled a news conference for Wednesday afternoon following the morning court hearing where the plea will be entered. Victims’ families and members of the Gilgo Beach Homicide Investigation Task Force will join him. The case attracted global attention and spawned a 2020 Netflix film titled Lost Girls. Despite documentary series and widespread media coverage, the investigation dragged on for more than a decade with fleeting leads before the 2022 task force formation finally cracked the case. Heuermann will be sentenced at a later date.
