The Olympics won’t be the same this year. Just recently, the IOC (International Olympic Committee) announced that athletes will have to put medals around their own necks during the games.
According to NPR, the medals will be presented to athletes on a tray and then the athlete will put the medal around his or her own neck. Gold, silver, and bronze medals will be treated as if they are food items instead of the prestigious awards they are.
The news is announced after Japan declared a state emergency and is banning crowds from being in attendance.
The games this year will also be eerily silent as athletes will perform in front of practically no one. Many Americans are less excited about the games than they were during previous years, due to the fact that politics have completely engulfed the once-respected games.

IOC has Received a Lot of Backlash in Recent Years
As some of you may know by now, the Olympics will have several transgender athletes from all over the world participating in the games this year.
Although it seems like this is all new, it’s actually not. In 2004, the IOC quietly allowed transgender athletes allowed to participate in the Olympics under their own gender identity.
It wasn’t until 2020 that the Olympics would see their first transgender athlete. The first trans athlete is Laurel Hubbard, who’s a biological male competing as a weightlifter for the country of New Zealand.
According to the Olympic Committee, transgender athletes must keep a testosterone level of fewer than 10 nanomoles per liter. Although transgender athletes have to keep their testosterone levels down, it’s quite obvious that they have a major advantage over female athletes.
sorry but I don’t think laurel hubbard should compete in the women’s weightlifting competition #TokyoOlympics

Many believe that the Olympics allowing transgenders to compete under the preferred gender will completely destroy women’s sport as we know it.
American Transgender Athlete Claimed He Would Burn the American Flag
BMX Freestyle rider Chelsea Wolfe, who has qualified as an alternate for the U.S. Women’s National Team, reportedly tweeted that he would burn the American flag on the podium if he won.
Chelsea Wolfe is biologically male, but just like Laurel Hubbard, he will compete as a woman in the 2020 Tokyo Olympic games. Wolfe also reportedly talked about blowing up President Trump’s head.
Wolfe has since deleted the tweets, stating that he loves the country and would hate to see it be taken over by fascists.
The IOC claims that “fair competition” is what the games are all about; however their actions speak louder than their rhetoric.
If we fast forward 20 years from now, expect half of the women’s field to be taken up by transgenders.
I sure wonder if social justice activists would speak about women’s equality then?
